I'm a college student in the US and at an on campus discussion last week we were examining how one-sided many of the news sources have been. In fact, oddly enough, we concluded that the one of the only individuals taking the time to look at the bigger picture is comedian reporter Jon Stewart of the Daily Show.
As someone living through these circumstances, what do you consider to be the biggest blockades to the truth? Is it the lack of access, lack of interest, or censorship and bias?

From what I have gathered, there has been huge misrepresentation and bias in just about all of our news sources and from many of our politicians. The 27 year-old farmer out in his field on January 27th probably saw the Israeli tanks in the distance, but of course he had no idea that one of them was about to kill him. Now he's dead. He never heard the sound of the tank gun firing the shell that vaporized his body, because tank projectiles travel faster than sound. What about the mother(s) of the two children in Khan Younis who were wounded by the missile from an Israeli drone? Their mother(s) probably never heard or saw the drone, because if it was at a high altitude and the wind was blowing the sound of its engine away from them, they would have had no warning whatsoever that they were in danger, at that moment, of being killed! They might not even have heard or seen the missile until it was right on top of them. What must it be like to live with that kind of constant, invisible threat day in and day out? Israeli apologists would point out, of course, that the inhabitants of Sderot, for instance, have to watch out for Hamas missiles as well, but from what I've seen of those "missiles," they look more like large fireworks than weapons of modern warfare. The Israeli weapons, though, are state of the art: the best killing machines that American technology (perhaps enhanced by Israeli technology) can produce. There is simply no comparison between the relative threats posed by these two combatants. It's like comparing a slingshot with a machine gun.
What a "ceasefire" this is! The Israeli attacks have diminished in frequency and intensity, but they have not stopped. Every man, woman and child in Gaza is still living with Israeli weapons hovering over them, targeting them from a distance, watching, waiting for an opportunity to catch them unaware and kill or maim them without warning. The sadistic murderers of the IDF must be having a wonderful time. They must chuckle smugly when they see Palestinians in their viewfinders and rifle scopes trying to go about their daily lives after the horror of the last few weeks, completely unaware that they are about to die. They probably cheer and do high-fives when they see children playing among the ruins of their lives suddenly disappear in a cloud of smoke and flame. "Yeeaaah! Go, Israel!" Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. But Father, they DO know what they are doing!

What must it be like to be a Palestinian farmer right now in Gaza?
