I just can't stop myself from laughing since last night after I saw the brave Iraqi journalist Muntadar al-Zeidi shouting "A goodbye kiss, you dog!" and hurled his shoes at Bush during his last press-conference in Baghdad on December 14, 2008.

Anyway, even my kids enjoyed the show when they saw what happened to Bush and each of them wished that he could send the same "gift" to Bush. They asked me how can they send their shoes and I told them that we can send it over air. Since then they were not sure which pair of shoes each of them will send, so I suggested to take a picture of all the shows. So here we go: "A goodbye kiss, you dog!" from me and all my family.

Israeli Brothels forbid prostitutes to use condoms to prevent evidence

Owners of "massage parlors" (a euphemism for brothels) forbid prostitutes working in them to use condoms because in a police raid they would be evidence that the establishment is for paid sex.

A Health Ministry spokeswoman says that an increase in sexually transmitted diseases has been registered recently among prostitutes and their clients.

"Massage parlors are nothing else but brothels, and pimps who operate them are denying the prostitutes basic protection for their lives and health," she says. Everyone knows this, yet the police refrain from closing these places down, she says.

"Often you work an eight-hour shift in fear," Revital, 33, who has been working in such parlors for the last four years, tells Haaretz.

"I live in fear of police raids and don't even have basic protection. Some clients bring their own and then it's all right. Sometimes I hide condoms in my bra or in paper but it always involves fear - either from the owner who might catch me or from not using the condom," she says.

Dozens of these outfits are spread in industrial areas in the central region and south Tel Aviv. Many of them have a legal business license but provide illegal sexual services. The sign at the entrance says "massage parlor" but the addition of the word "spa" indicates sexual services."

"There is a lot of hypocrisy in this business," says Revital. "Because of fear of the police we are not allowed to say the word 'sex,' 'release' and 'oral sex' freely."

The prostitutes tell callers that they give a regular massage, but in the end provide "release" in the [client's] underpants. Everyone understands that this is no ordinary spa, she says.

The women are supposed to provide only a massage "but there are always 'extras' - the men always suggest sex in addition to the massage," she says.

"Both the man and woman are naked, he is allowed to touch and stroke her and the massage includes sexual relief. Afterward, if the client wants 'extras' [Revital's term for fellatio and sexual intercourse] he can offer more money and the woman can agree."

The brothel operators say they provide only massages "but they are the ones making a profit while we're taking the risks," says Revital.

Nikita runs a successful massage parlor in the central region. She blames the police.

"I'm angry that the women can't use condoms. I see how stressed they are. They cannot protect themselves," she says.

But due to repeat police raids Nikita says she cannot keep condoms on the premises. "Condoms are evidence and cause for opening a criminal investigation for running a brothel. So my girls have to hide them on their person."

"Most of the women desperately need the money and neglect their health, although getting sick could be much worse for them," she says.

Nikita says it's in her interest to keep the girls healthy. "The thought of the damage a woman carrier and working without a condom can do is horrendous," she says.

A police spokesman said that the police "enforce the law. We investigate brothel ads and open cases for offenses related to prostitution, women-trafficking, pimping and running brothels."

One central region parlor is elegantly designed and presents a list of standard spa treatments, including hot-stone massage and aromatherapy. The women, aged 19 to 36, sit in an adjacent room, to which clients are led to choose their "masseuse."

At first the women deny having sex with clients but in time admit they provide an "erotic massage."

"No sex, no release," says the sign at the entrance to a massage parlor in south Tel Aviv. But a woman at reception says that "we give body massage and erotic massage, including release, for NIS 200."

The owner denies that any sexual services take place there, then softens and says that "whatever happens behind the closed door is their business. Oral, release, what do I know? The client came for a massage."

"Sex diseases are increasing. The owners don't want to lose their license and prefer to endanger the prostitutes and the public's health by banning the use of condoms," a Health Ministry spokeswoman says.

"The police have a double standard. Everyone knows that partial or full sexual intercourse takes place in these places.

Attorney Nomi Levenkron of the Hotline for Migrant Workers says the brothel operators forbid the women to use condoms, deliberately endangering their life and general public. She says the situation reflects police's inadequacy in enforcing the law.

"The police hunt the prostitutes instead of the brothel owners and pimps," she says.

Denmark: Miss Hijab 2008 Wins iPod

Iraqi-born Huda Falah was on Tuesday named Miss Headscarf 2008, beating 46 contesters in the competition organized by Danish public broadcaster DR.

Huda, 18, won the competition that was open to anyone aged 15 or older.

"The woman is like a diamond and you don't show it to everyone," Falah said in an interview with the broadcaster, adding she entered the competition in order to help bridge the divide between Muslim and Danish youth.

And the iPod, maybe?

The broadcaster's 15-19 online community DR Skum announced the competition in May, but underlined it was a fashion contest, not a beauty contest and open to anyone - regardless of religion!!!

DR's youth club, 'Skum', believes that the project would display the 'cool Muslim women' who 'often make up a very fashion-conscious and style-confident part of the Danish street scene'.

It looks like some Danes are getting desperate to show some respect to what other Danes are dying to insult. Or is it a real respect to the 3.7 percent of the country's population - Muslims (210,000 persons - that is 7 times the population of Monaco)? According to U.S. State Department, they are the second largest religious group there! In spite of that, Hijab has recently been the focus of a heated debate in Denmark to ban wearing it. It is pity to see the West confusing Hijab and modesty with or other religious symbols such as crucifix. Stories like these and campaigns such as the one lead by Danish Peoples Party (DPP) only shows how much ignorant, racist and anti-Muslims that part of Denmark is.

While DPP is fighting to marginalizes Muslims, some are beginning to realize the sheer impact of the hatred they have fueled against themselves from Muslims all over the world after the cartoons scandal and the support they shown in favor of insulting Qura'an by the Dutch lawmaker, Geert Wilders, in his infamous short clip.

Anyway, as a winner, Huda will receive an iPod and a hot, specially made headscarf designed by a Danish fashion boutique. Five semi-finalists will walk away with subscriptions to Muslim Girl magazine.

Now, I have a question to these Danes: Are you done ridiculing Islam and regard the hijab as a symbol of what you see as the inferior status of women in Islam? This competition is just a kind of a joke, but it's also something I hope will force Danes to accept women who choose to wear a headscarf.

Last but not least, the whole point of the Hijab is that it's a symbol of chastity and modesty; to cover women instead of turning them into objects. I don't mind looking at a nice objects, but this object is not one of them!

Highest is everything!

If you thought that Burj Dubai is the end of the "Arabian Dream", you are mistaken.

The new race in the Arab World (to be particular, the Gulf region) is building the highest towers.

Few years ago, Dubai announced that they are going to spend few "Billions" of Dollars to build the highest tower in the world, Burj Dubai, a 818 meter high building.

The tower is in progress and any visitor to Dubai can notice this landmark from anywhere around Dubai.

But that was just the beginning of the race to highest. More proposals are coming to reality!

Kuwait is planing to beat Dubai by building its own "highest tower" in the world, "Mubarak Tower," which is going to be a 1001 meter high. So once this tower is built (God knows how many years) it is going to be the highest tower in the world and is going to washout "Burj Dubai" record.

Of course Dubai doesn't like to be a looser, so they are planing to challenge their own record (Burj Dubai) as well Kuwait's Tower and spend more billions of dollars to take back the for Dubai. New proposals are in action and one of them is to build another tower, "Al Burj." Rumors are saying that it will be as high as 1050-1200 meter. So, Dubai wins again, but between Kuwait and Dubai new plans, Bahrain have a proposal to build something in between, "Murjan Tower," 1022 meter high, and the race goes on...

But wait, this is not the end of the "highest race". Saudi Arabia and it's multi billionaire Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal is going to join the race through his version of the "highest building". But this one is really impressive.

Mark this...

"Mile High Tower" is the name of the tower which Al-Waleed is intending to build. As the name implies, it is going to be a "MILE HIGH", that is 1600 meter high (which is twice the hight of the yet to be highest tower, Burj Dubai). I say impressive because this number (1600m) is really crazy and will be crazy to compete.

"Mile High", the tallest in the world, will be built in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and no doubt it will beat all the records and hopefully stop the race. For ever! (I wish)

Will Dubai (and others) take a break and spend some of these billions in the development or building something other than towers?

If we have so many "freaks" for height, maybe they should think in spending these billions (or at least some) in building things like the "Space elevator" or something useful other than buildings?!

The question is: how effective is Arabic language according to the above definition (communicating ideas, suggesting by objects, actions, or conditions of associated ideas or feelings)?

Between Arabic speaking tongues, I can claim that it is very effective. Period. Full Stop! Nothing more... it does not cross the boundaries of those who speak it, so what is the use of it? Maybe the only positive thing about learning Arabic is to keep it among top ranked!!!

Clockwise or counterclockwise?

OK, it's Eid holiday, so this is not politics-related, but it is a cool way to find out if you are a right-brain or left-brain dominant. Look at the dancer and decide which way she's spinning.

Focus!

If you think she's going clockwise, you're apparently right-brain dominant (imaginative, philosophical, touchy-feely, impetuous); if you see her going counter-clockwise, you're left-brain dominant (logical, practical, detail-oriented, safe).

The publisher claimed that "most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it," but I see it only clockwise!
