This billboard campaign was launched throughout Washington DC. As the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) meets for its annual Congressional lobby, the campaign calls for an end to the $30 billion in US military aid promised to Israel over the coming decade.
“AIPAC Does Not Speak for Me” say 100 billboard ads in DC Metro, highlighting gap between AIPAC’s peacekilling policy positions and most Jewish Americans
Our opponents call us “Jew haters.” That is a lie and a slander. BDS advocates equal rights for all and consistently opposes all forms of racism, including anti-Semitism. In fact, many progressive Jewish activists, intellectuals, students, feminists and others participate in and sometimes lead BDS campaigns in Western countries. The increasing impact of Israeli supporters of BDS has led the Knesset to pass a draconian anti-boycott law banning advocacy of any boycott against Israel or its complicit institutions.
New York politicians are threatening to cut funding to Brooklyn College if the school hosts a forum Thursday night about the BDS movement. The council members’ threat is just one of several efforts by local lawmakers, from Congress on down, to pressure Brooklyn College to remove its sponsorship or even cancel the event. The school is vowing to proceed with the event.
America, two hundred and thirty seven years ago we overthrew a colonial foreign power that occupied our land, stole our treasury, and dictated its interests upon Americans. Americans launched a revolution against the most powerful military in the world and won. The United States of America was founded as a FREE, independent, and SOVEREIGN NATION, only to see another foreign nation, ISRAEL, use insidious stealth power of money, media, and lobbies to once again dictate its will and policies upon a most obliging compliant federal government.
The excuse used to justify Obama’s failure to close GITMO is incomplete and misleading. Obama’s plan was never to close Gitmo as much as it was to re-locate it to Illinois: to what the ACLU dubbed “Gitmo North”.
The comparison between the Bab al-Shams activists and the settlers should not be extended too far. One obvious difference is that the Palestinians were building on their own land, whereas Israel is breaking international law in allowing hundreds of thousands of settlers to move into the West Bank. By establishing Bab al-Shams, the activists visibly demonstrated the apartheid nature of Israel’s rule in the occupied territories.
Lev Leviev’s companies have also been accused of involvement in human rights abuses and unethical business practices in the diamond industry in Angola, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Stevie Wonder has announced that he will perform at at the annual Gala for Friends of the IDF (FIDF). Maybe he does not know. Maybe the people around him are blind. Maybe he lost his soul.
to increase the number of Americans who care by educating them about this misuse of their tax dollars, and ultimately to stop blank-check US aid to Israel.
He has been telling the unsettling truth about Israeli behavior for four years now, with another two to go. Repeatedly he has documented Israeli violations of international law and its relentless disregard for Palestinian human rights.
In a sane world this work would make Richard Falk a universally acclaimed defender of justice. But ours is not a sane world.
All those reacted negatively to Falk’s latest report are well positioned, well paid representatives of nations and multinational businesses are reduced to sounding like lawyers defending the mafia.
Dennis Banks says, “What is happening to [Palestinians] is what we went through during the last century. It is, unfortunately, the same people [backing it]: it is the U.S. government which funnels money to Israel, and then it goes to hurt the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian solidarity movement in South Africa (through BDS South Africa and the Palestine Solidarity Alliance) have taken out over 12 billboards (large outdoor displays) across the country graphically explaining the Israeli Occupation of Palestinian lands and the dispossession of the Palestinian people. More than five billboards have already gone up with more to follow in coming weeks.
Roger Waters, founding member of the British rock band Pink Floyd, has announced that he will join Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker, civil rights icon Angela Davis, and others on the jury of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine (RToP), taking place in New York City, October 6–7, 2012.

The seven Irish human rights activists due home in Ireland this afternoon were at the last minute prevented from boarding their flight out of Ben Gurion airport by Israeli armed guards. All seven are now being detained indefinitely, with no further news available from Israeli authorities or the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs about when they will be released.
Canadian and Irish ships, the Tahrir and the Saoirse, sailing with Freedom Waves to Gaza have been illegally boarded by the Israeli military in international waters, about 50 nautical miles from the coast of Gaza, around 9:30 am EDT.
We are approaching the 100-nautical-mile point away from Gaza, which is usually the point where Israel declares—starts the blockade … Will they try to come and board us? All these questions are now at the moment of truth. The major preparation we did is to prepare that we don’t want anybody to act in any violent way or in any way that can even induce violence by the Israelis.
A Palestinian youth activist from Haifa has joined “Freedom Waves to Gaza”. The message they carry is one of unity, defiance, and hope.
The Canadian ship Tahrir and the Irish ship Saoirse have successfully reached international waters, initiating the “Freedom Wave to Gaza.” The boats have embarked from Turkey and are on the Mediterranean Sea. In all, the 2 boats carry 27 passengers from Canada, Ireland, U.S., Palestine, and Australia.
“Freedom Waves to Gaza” has been kept secret until now for fear of Israeli sabotage and obstruction, as happened with Freedom Flotilla 2.
At this moment, two boats are in international waters in the Mediterranean heading to Gaza. One boat, the Saoirse from Ireland, includes parliamentarians among its passengers.
Olympia Food Co-op: We can assure you that this lawsuit will not diminish our commitment to the rule of law and universal human rights for all people.
Richard Lightbown describes the reality of extreme hardship in the Gaza Strip, “denied by world political leaders who know the facts better than anyone”, that has led to the formation of yet another flotilla for Gaza, and chronicles the Israeli, US and European dirty tricks aimed at aborting the humanitarian mission to the Strip.
Whether or not flotillas reach Gaza, Israel lost the war. The whole world knows what America’s media won’t report, and what growing numbers of Jews condemn. Many, in fact, express disgust about a lawless nation in their name.
When fundamentally unjust situations are left unaddressed by states, the people must step in. As the collective punishment of 1.5 millions civilians persists, it’s time to ask yourself: which side are you on?
Speaking about the American boat to Gaza, Walker said, “I am going to Gaza because my government has failed to understand or care about the Gazan people, but worse than that, it is ignorant of our own history in the United States.”
It is justice and respect that I want the world to dust off and put – without delay, and with tenderness – back on the head of the Palestinian child. It will be imperfect justice and respect because the injustice and disrespect have been so severe. But I believe we are right to try.
