Polls show they favor defense and settlement construction cuts. Netanyahu prioritizes increasing them. He dismisses public sentiment out of hand. He’s favored to remain prime minister anyway. Israelis will have themselves to blame. They’ll have to explain why they voted the wrong way. They repeat the same mistakes and expect change. They’re stuck in the rut they themselves dug. Nothing post-election looks promising.
Who would imagine that Israeli Jews could be so intimidated by the innocuous Christmas tree? Far from “swallowing up” the historic Palestinian city of Nazareth, “Upper Nazareth is a Jewish town and all its symbols are Jewish,” Shimon Gapso, the mayor of Upper Nazareth said. “As long as I hold office, no non-Jewish symbol will be presented in the city.”
As the African National Congress voted Thursday to support the Palestinian call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel known as BDS, declaring it was “unapologetic in its view that the Palestinians are the victims and the oppressed in the conflict with Israel,” we look at a new film that examines the apartheid analogy commonly used to describe the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “Roadmap to Apartheid.”
The recent finding of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine (RToP) that the state of Israel is guilty of the crime of apartheid in relation to the Palestine people should be taken with the utmost seriousness by all those who affirm human solidarity and care about making visible the long ordeal of a suffering and vulnerable people. The finding is conspicuously ignored by Israel and the United States, as well as by most media and by the United Nations.
Pat Robertson once again spoke out against American Muslims, singling out the construction of mosques and the purported threat of creeping Sharia law. Robertson likened critics of Muslims to opponents of Nazis and rejected claims that his opposition to rights for Muslims is bigotry, asking, “I wonder what were people who opposed the Nazis, were they bigots?”
Having been tortured, Rudolf Höss, who was the commander of Auschwitz from 1940 to 1943, almost certainly lied to save the lives of his wife and children. Even if torture and duress cannot not be proven, the overwhelming reason for recognizing the utter falsity of the Höss confession is that the gassing method he described was not scientifically plausible.
Anti-Muslim Bigotry – in the United States is getting out of hand. Our country is sick and we need to understand the source of this sickness and do something about it. Islamphobia is being actively supported by local, state and federal governments and law enforcement. Anti-Muslim hatemongers routinely train local, state and federal officials to hate Islam and Muslims and it looks like they get good money for it. I tell you, I am in the wrong business, but I digress.
Jews must not rent homes to “gentiles”. That was the religious decree issued this week by at least 50 of Israel’s leading rabbis, many of them employed by the state as municipal religious leaders. Jews should first warn, then “ostracize” fellow Jews who fail to heed the directive, the rabbis declared.
The decree is the latest in a wave of racist pronouncements from some of Israel’s most influential rabbis.
New research by the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies indicates that Jewish settlement in Sheikh Jarrah is against Israel’s interests and has the potential to harm future Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.
Jewish settlement in the heart of Arab neighborhoods in East Jerusalem has the potential to threaten the advancement of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, according to a new report published by The Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies.
In the past few weeks, Safed – one of Judaism’s four holy cities – has been making headlines of a very different kind as “the most racist city in Israel”. The unflattering, and hotly contested, epithet follows an edict from Safed’s senior rabbis ordering residents not to sell or rent homes to “non-Jews” – a reference to the country’s Palestinian Arab citizens, who comprise a fifth of Israel’s population.
Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, spiritual mentor of the religious fundamentalist party, Shas, which represents Middle Eastern Jews, reportedly said during a Sabbath homily earlier this week that “Non-Jews were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world-only to serve the People of Israel. They need to die, but God will give them longevity. Why? Imagine that one’s donkey would die, they’d lose their money.”

By Jeff Gates* | Sabbah Report | www.sabbah.biz Americans can now see the light at the end of a long dark tunnel-if only they will look. By Anthony Lawson* | Sabbah Report | www.sabbah.biz There can be absolutely no doubt that Israel has created an inhuman, illegal and utterly disgraceful Apartheid state, and the international community will never be able to excuse itself if it takes no action against this blatant, ongoing and in-plain-sight crime against humanity. By Jeff Gates* | Sabbah Report | www.sabbah.biz Several of us among the incurably curious asked ourselves a simple question: what is anti-Semitism?
