Introduction

Netanyahu --Speaking in New York to the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations

Any serious effort to understand the extraordinary influence of the Zionist power configuration over US foreign policy must examine the presence of key operatives in strategic positions in the government and the activities of local Zionist organizations affiliated with mainstream Jewish organizations and religious orders.

There are at least 52 major American Jewish organizations actively engaged in promoting Israel's foreign policy, economic and technological agenda in the US (see the appendix). The grassroots membership ranges from several hundred thousand militants in the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) to one hundred thousand wealthy contributors, activists and power brokers in the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). In addition scores of propaganda mills, dubbed think tanks, have been established by million dollar grants from billionaire Zionists including the Brookings Institute (Haim Saban) and the Hudson Institute among others. Scores of Zionist funded political action committees (PAC) have intervened in all national and regional elections, controlling nominations and influencing election outcomes. Publishing houses, including university presses have been literally taken over by Zionist zealots, the most egregious example being Yale University, which publishes the most unbalanced tracts parroting Zionist parodies of Jewish history (Financial Times book review section August 28/29 2010). New heavily funded Zionist projects designed to capture young Jews and turn them into instruments of Israeli foreign policy includes "Taglit-Birthright" which has spent over $250 million dollars over the past decade sending over a quarter-million Jews (between 18-26) to Israel for 10 days of intense brainwashing (Boston Globe August 26, 2010). Jewish billionaires and the Israeli state foot the bill. The students are subject to a heavy dose of Israeli style militarism as they are accompanied by Israeli soldiers as part of their indoctrination; at no point do they visit the West Bank, Gaza or East Jerusalem (Boston Globe August 26, 2010). They are urged to become dual citizens and even encouraged to serve in the Israeli armed forces. In summary the 52 member organizations of the Presidents of the Major American Jewish Organizations which we discuss are only the tip of the iceberg of the Zionist Power Configuration: taken together with the PACs, the propaganda mills, the commercial and University presses and mass media we have a matrix of power for understanding the tremendous influence they have on US foreign and domestic policy as it affects Israel and US Zionism.

While all their activity is dedicated first and foremost in ensuring that US Middle East policy serves Israel's colonial expansion in Palestine and war aims in the Middle East, what B'nai B'rth euphemistically calls a "focus on Israel and its place in the world", many groups 'specialize' in different spheres of activity. For example, the "Friends of the Israel Defense Force" is primarily concerned in their own words "to look after the IDF", in other words provide financial resources and promote US volunteers for a foreign army (an illegal activity except when it involves Israel). Hillel is the student arm of the Zionist power configuration claiming a presence in 500 colleges and universities, all affiliates defending each and every human rights abuse of the Israeli state and organizing all expenses paid junkets for Jewish student recruits to travel to Israel where they are heavily propagandized and encouraged to 'migrate' or become 'dual citizens'.

Method: Studying Zionist Power:

There are several approaches for measuring the power of the combined Zionist organizations and influential occupants of strategic positions in government and the economy. These include (a) reputational approach (b) self claims (c) decision-making analysis (d) structural inferences. Most of these approaches provide some clues about Zionist potential power. For example, newspaper pundits and journalists frequently rely on Washington insiders, congressional staff and notables to conclude that AIPAC has the reputation for being one of the most powerful lobbies in Washington. This approach points to the need to empirically examine the operations of AIPAC in influencing Congressional votes, nomination of candidates, defeating incumbents who do not unconditionally support the Israeli line. In other words analyzing the Congressional and Executive decision- making process is one key to measuring Zionist power. But it is not the only one. Zionist power is a product of a historical context, where media ownership and wealth concentration and other institutional levers of power come into play and shape the current decision-making framework. Cumulative power over time and across institutions creates a heavy bias in the political outcomes favorable to Israel's organized agents in America. Once again the mere presence of Jews or Zionists in positions of economic, cultural and political power does not tell us how they will use their resources and whether they will have the desired effect. Structural analysis, the location of Zionists in the class structure, is necessary but not sufficient for understanding Zionist power. One has to proceed and analyze the content of decisions made and not made regarding the agenda of Israel's backers operating in the USA. The 52 major Zionists organizations are very open about their claims to power, their pursuit of Israel's agenda and their subservience to each and every Israeli regime.

Those who deny Zionist power over US Mid East foreign policy are left-Zionists namely Noam Chomsky and his acolytes. They never analyze the legislative process, executive decision-making, the structures and activity of the million member Zionist grassroots and the appointments and background of key policy makers deciding strategic policies in the Middle East. Instead they resort to superficial generalizations and political demagogy, imputing policy to "Big Oil" and the "military-industrial complex" or "US imperialism". Categories devoid of empirical content and historical context about real existing policy making regarding the Middle East.

The Making of Zionist Power in the US Government

To understand US submission to Israeli war policies in the Middle East one has to look beyond the role of lobbies pressuring Congress and the role of political action committees and wealthy Zionist campaign contributions. A much neglected but absolutely essential building block of Zionist power over US foreign economic, diplomatic and military policy is the Zionist presence in key policy positions, including the Departments of Treasury and State, the Pentagon, the National Security Council and the White House.

Operating within the top policymaking positions, Zionist officials have consistently pursued policies in line with Israel's militarist policies, aimed at undermining and eliminating any country critical of the Jewish States' colonial occupation of Palestine, its regional nuclear monopoly, its expansion of Jews only settlements and above all its strident efforts to remain the dominant power in the Arab East. The Zionist policymakers in Government are in constant consultation with the Israeli state, ensuring coordination with the Israeli military (IDF) command, its Foreign Office and secret police (MOSSAD) and compliance with the Jewish State's political line. Over the past 24 months not a single Zionist policymaker has voiced any criticism of Israel's most heinous crimes, ranging from the savaging of Gaza to the massacre of the humanitarian flotilla and the expansion of new settlements in Jerusalem and the West Bank. A record of loyalty to a foreign power which even exceeds the subservience of the Stalinist and Nazi fellow travelers in Washington during the 1930's and 1940's.

Zionist policymakers in strategic positions depend on the political backing and work closely with their counterparts in the "lobbies" (AIPAC) in Congress and in the national and local Jewish Zionist organizations. Many of the leading Zionist policymakers rose to power through a deliberate strategy of infiltrating the government to shape policy promoting Israel's interest over and above the interests of the US populace. While a degree of cohesion resulting from a common allegiance to Tel Aviv can account for suspected nepotism and selection, it is also the case that the powerful Jewish lobbies can play a role in creating key positions in Government and ensuring that one of their own will occupy that position and pursue Israel's agenda.

Stuart Levey: Israel's Foremost Operative in the US Government

Stuart Levey, Who is he? He is the Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.

Within the confines of his Zionist ideological blinders, Levey applied his intelligence to the singular task of turning his office into the major foreign policy venue for setting US policy toward Iran. Levey more than any other appointed official in government or elected legislator, formulates and implements policies which profoundly influence US, European Union and UN economic relations with Iran. Levey elaborated the sanctions policies, which Washington imposed on the EU and the Security Council. Levey, organizes the entire staff under his control at Treasury to investigate trade and investment policies of all the world's major manufacturing, banking, shipping, petroleum and trading corporations. He then criss-crosses the US and successfully pressures pension funds, investment houses, oil companies and economic institutions to disinvest from any companies dealing with Iran's civilian economy. He has gone global, threatening sanctions and blackballing dissident companies in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America which refuse to surrender economic opportunities. They all understood Levey operated at the behest of Israel, services Levey has proudly performed.

Levey coordinates his campaign with Zionist leaders in Congress. He secures sanctions legislation in line with his campaigns. His policies clearly violate international law and national sovereignty, pressing the limits of extra territorial enforcement of his administrative fiats against a civilian economy. His violation of economic sovereignty parallels Obama's announcement that US Special Forces would operate in violation of political sovereignty on four continents. For all intents and purposes, Levey makes US policy toward Iran. At each point he designs the escalation of sanctions, and then passes it on to the White House, which shoves it down the throats of the Security Council. Once new sanctions approved by Levey and staff are in place they are there to enforce them: identifying violators and implementing penalties. Treasury has become an outpost of Tel Aviv. Not a single leftist, liberal or social democratic publication highlights the role of Levey or even the terrible economic pain this Old Testament fanatic is inflicting on 75 million Iranian civilian workers and consumers. Indeed like Israel's Judeo-fascist rabbis who preach a "final solution" for Israel's enemies, Levey announces new and harsher "punishment" against the Iranian people (Stuart Levey, "Iran's New Deceptions at Sea Must be Punished" FT 8/16/2010, p. 9). Perhaps at the appropriate moment the Jewish State will name a major avenue through the West Bank for his extraordinary services to this most unholy racist state.

The Strategic Role of Local Power

The Israel Lobby Archive recently released declassified documents of the American Zionist Council (AZC) subpoenaed during a US Senate investigation between 1962-63. The documents reveal how the Israeli state through its American Jewish conduits - the mainstream Zionist organizations - penetrated the US mass media and propagated its political line, unbeknownst to the American public. Stories written by a host of Jewish Zionist journalists and academics were solicited and planted in national media such as The Readers Digest, The Atlantic Monthly, Washington Post among others, including regional and local newspapers and radio stations (Israel Lobby Archive, August 18, 2010). While the national Zionist organizations procured the journalists and academic writers and editors, it was the local affiliates who carried the message and implemented the line. The level of infiltration the Senate subpoenaed Zionist documents in the 1960's reveal has multiplied a hundred fold over the past 50 years in terms of financing, paid functionaries and committed militants and above all in structural power and coercive capability.

While the national leaders in close consultation with Israeli officials receive instructions on which issues are of high priority, the implementation follows a vertical route to regional and local leaders, politicians, and notables who in turn target the local media and religious, academic and other opinion leaders. When national leaders ensure publication of pro Israeli propaganda, the locals reproduce and circulate it to local media and non-Zionist influentials on their "periphery". Letter campaigns orchestrated at the top are implemented by thousands of militant Zionist doctors, lawyers and businesspeople. They praise pro-Israel scribes and attack critics; they pressure newspapers , publishing houses and magazines not to publish dissidents. The national and local leaders promote hostile reviews of books not promoting the Israeli line, influence library decisions to pack their shelves with pro Israeli books and censor and exclude more balanced or critical histories. Local militants in co-ordination with Israeli consuls saturate the public with thousands of public meetings and speakers targeting Christian churches, academic audiences and civic groups; at the same time local Zionist militants and, especially millionaire influentials, pressure local venues (university administrators, church authorities and civic associations) to disinvite any critic of Israel and their supporters from speaking. In the last resort, local Zionists demand that a pro-Israel propagandist be given equal time, something unheard of when an Israel apologist is scheduled to speak.

Local Zionist organizations make yeoman efforts to recruit mayors, governors, local celebraties, publishers, church people and promising young ethnic and minority leaders by offering them all expenses paid propaganda junkets to Israel and then to write or give interviews parroting what they were fed by Israeli officials. Local leaders mobilize thousands of militant activist Zionists to attack anti-Zionist Jews in public and private. They demand they be excluded from any media roundtables on the Middle East.

Local Zionist functionaries form rapid response committees to visit and threaten any local publisher and editorial staff publishing editorials or articles questioning the Israeli party line. Local leaders police ("monitor") all local meetings, speaker invitations, as well as the speeches of public commentators, religious leaders and academics to detect any "anti-Zionist overtones' (which they label "covert anti-Semitism"). Most of the major Jewish religious orders are lined up as the clerical backbone of local Israeli fundraising, including the financing of new "Jews only" settlements in the Palestinian West Bank.

Local functionaries are in the forefront of campaigns to deny independent Middle East specialists and public policy academics, appointments, tenure or promotion, independently of the quality of their scholarship. On the other hand, academic hacks who toe the pro-Israel line, by publishing books with blanket attacks on Israeli critics among Christians and Muslims and countries like Turkey, Iran or whoever is a target of Israeli policy, are promoted, lauded and put on the best seller list. Any book or writer critical of Zionist Power or Israel is put on a local and national 'index' and subject to an inquisition by slander from a stable of Jewish Torquemadas.

Conclusion

The power of Israel in the US does not reside only in the influence and leadership of powerful Washington based "pro-Israel lobbies", like AIPAC. Without the hundreds of thousands of militant locally based dentists, podiatrists, stockbrokers, real estate brokers,profesors and others, the "lobby" would be unable to sustain and implement its policy among hundreds of millions of Americans outside the major metropolises. As we have seen from the Senate declassified documents, over a half-century ago, local Zionist organizations began a systematic campaign of penetration, control and intimidation that has reached its pinnacle in the first decade of the 21^st century. It is no accident or mere coincidence that University officials in Northern Minnesota or upstate New York are targeted to exclude speakers or fire faculty members critical of Israel. Local Zionists have computerized databanks operating with an index of prohibited speakers, as the Zionists themselves admit and flaunt in contrast to "liberal" Zionists who are prone to label as "anti-Semitic" or "conspiracy theorists" writers who cite official Zionist documents demonstrating their systematic perversion of our democratic freedoms.

Over the decades, the distinction between Zionist power exercised by a "lobby" outside the government and operatives "inside" the government has virtually vanished. As we have seen, in our case study, AIPAC secured the undersecretary position in Treasury, dictated the appointment of a key Zionist operative (Stuart Levey) and accompanies his global crusade to sanction Iran into starvation and destitution. The planting of operatives within key Middle East positions in government is not the simple result of individual career choices. The ascent of so many pro-Israel Zionist to government posts is part of their mission to serve Israel's interest at least for a few years of their careers. Their presence in government precludes any Senate or Congressional investigations of Zionists organizations acting as agents of a foreign power as took place in the 1960's.

As the major Zionist organizations and influentials have accumulated power and abused the exercise of power on behalf of an increasingly bloody racist state, which flaunts its dominance over US institutions, public opposition is growing. The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign is gaining strength even in the US (see Harvard divestment in Israeli companies). US public support for Israel, by all measures, has dropped below 50%, while polls in Western Europe show a marked increase in hostility to Israel's ultra-rightist regime. Anti-Zionist Jews are growing in influence especially among young Jews who are appalled by the Israeli slaughter in Gaza and assault on the humanitarian flotilla. Equally important the presence of anti-Zionist Jews on panels and forums has given courage to many otherwise intimidated non-Jews who heretofore were fearful of being labeled "anti-Semitic".

The Zionist power configuration rests on a declining population base: most young Jews marry outside the confines of the ethno-religious Jewish-Israeli nexus and many of them are not likely to form the bases for rabid campaigns on behalf of a racist state. The Zionist leadership's high intensity and heavily endowed effort to fence in young people of Jewish ancestry via private schools, subsidized "summer programs" in Israel etc. are as much out of fear and recognition of the drift away from clerical chauvinism as it is an attempt to recruit a new generation of Israel First militants.

The danger is that the US Zionist support for the ultra-rightist and racist regime in Israel is leading them to join forces with the far right in the US. Today Jewish and Christian Manhattan rednecks are fermenting mass Islamic hatred (the so called "Mosque controversy") as a distraction from the economic crises and rising unemployment. Zionist promotion of mass Islamofobia, so near to Wall Street, where many of their fat cats who profit from plundering the assets of America operate, is a dangerous game. If the same enraged masses turn their eyes upward toward the wealthy and powerful instead of downward to blacks and Muslims, some unpleasant and unanticipated surprises might rebound against, not only Israel's operatives, but all those wrongly identified as related to a misconstrued Jewish Motherland.

Former American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) staffer M.J. Rosenberg told the Israel lobby to "pull the plug" on activities fanning the "anti-Muslim explosion that has seized this country over the past month." The former insider charges organizations such as AIPAC, the Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee, and assorted neocon outfits with having "set the stage" for hysteria by demonizing Muslims in the name of "advancing their Middle East Agenda." This strategy has been decades in the making.

Many in the mainstream media play roles assigned by the lobby long ago. Glenn Beck consulted missile-defense-advocate-turned-expert-on-Islam Frank Gaffney to answer key questions about the planned Islamic center. "Who are the people behind this?" "Where are they getting the funding?" These are valid questions that can also be asked of AIPAC. Files from a newly declassified investigation into pro-Israel lobbying in the U.S. released by the National Archives and Records Administration on July 23, 2010, reveal some very unsettling answers.

Does the "Ground Zero Mosque" have a budding "father of the atomic bomb" backing it, or an aspiring proliferator such as A.Q. Khan? AIPAC certainly does. According to Israel and the Bomb author Avner Cohen, in 1958 Israeli Prime Minister David Ben Gurion secretly designated Democratic Party fundraiser Abraham Feinberg to be the key "benedictor" for organizing and raising private American donor funding for the clandestine Israeli nuclear weapons program - in direct opposition to the sitting U.S. president's nuclear non-proliferation drive. In 1960 Feinberg began a series of payments [.pdfs] to AIPAC, then only recently renamed [.pdf] from the American Zionist Council for Public Affairs, the lobbying division of the American Zionist Council (AZC). In return, the AZC helpfully ran U.S. publicity [.pdf] promoting Dimona as a peaceful research facility rather than a nuclear weapons production site.

AIPAC founder Isaiah L. Kenen penned an article called "No Bombs Possible" in his AZC-subsidized [.pdf] Nov. 2, 1961, Near East Report newsletter to Congress and activists. Kenen wrote, "Meanwhile, many asked whether the Israel reactor could really produce sufficient plutonium, a nuclear weapon component, to construct a bomb. Science editor William L. Laurence of the New York Times deflated these reports, on Dec. 25, when he wrote that 'the plutonium produced in a small nuclear reactor of 24,000 thermal kilowatts is very minute indeed ... and 'completely useless for bomb material.' The basic facts, if fully understood, would make it clear why only great industrial nations, particularly the United States and Soviet Russia, can be full-fledged members of the 'atomic club.'"

AIPAC and Feinberg's well-financed Dimona PR deception, boosted by overseas funding, was a complete success in fooling the American public. Today mainstream news pundits advance theories that the "Ground Zero" mosque could be all "mobbed up" with crime family or wise guy funding through unknown and murky international hawalas. It's an effective strategy, because such ties are usually hard to verify.

Thanks to the passage of time, AIPAC's own ties are not.

Mob accountant Meyer Lansky's associate Aaron Weisberg was a Las Vegas investor who testified reluctantly in the tax-evasion case of notorious mobster Joseph "Doc" Stacher. Beginning in 1955, Weisberg provided many rounds of AIPAC startup funding at $500 a throw straight [.pdfs] from the Sands Casino, which he partially owned. According to E. Parry Thomas, who helped clean up Las Vegas by forcing all shadowy backers to stand before casino licensing boards, "Aaron Weisberg had 20 [percent] and he probably owned only half of it [the Sands] because he was Meyer Lansky's man. This went on everyplace."

But Weisberg was small potatoes next to John Factor (a.k.a. Iakov Faktorowicz) known to friends and enemies alike as "Jake the Barber." Factor shaved English investors of an estimated $8 million through stock frauds. In the U.S. he colluded with Al Capone to fake his own kidnapping in order to frame and take down a rival. Like Weisberg, Jake the Barber became a "straw buyer" for a Chicago criminal ring's purchase of the Stardust Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Factor's infamy was well known by the time AIPAC eagerly swept up [.pdf] the Barber's $1,000 investment late in 1959. It may have been a winning bet. Just before his immanent extradition from the U.S., Factor received a rushed, mysterious presidential pardon on Dec. 24, 1962, from John F. Kennedy.

Today, pundit Lanny Davis demands "transparency" from the "Ground Zero" mosque's leader, Imam Rauf. Davis noted that he "has refused to repudiate Hamas as a terrorist organization." But what of the AIPAC's shadowy arms-smuggling donor and the ties of its founder?

When three trucks containing 80 tons of highly explosive WWII surplus cyclonite blocks along with a cache of 5,200 U.S. Navy combat knives were seized in New York by police in 1948, it quickly became apparent it was a clandestine illegal shipment bound for Jewish fighters in Palestine. The size, scale, and front companies of the Haganah smuggling network [.pdf], organized in direct violation of U.S. arms embargoes and the War Assets Administration, are only slowly emerging into the history books. Zimel Resnick bailed his captured business associate out of jail after this key front company operative running 199 tons of explosives was caught. Running with arms smugglers apparently paid off. By 1956, AIPAC began locking and loading [.pdf] Resnick contributions twice the size of Weisberg's quarterly contributions from the Sands.

And what of AIPAC's founder?

A recently declassified 1970 file [.pdf] held by the Department of Justice's National Security Division and reluctantly released under Freedom of Information Act appeals about the foreign agent activities Isaiah L. Kenen reveals he may have been an "insider source" for information about the Jewish Defense League. This intel was stove-piped directly to National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Secret Service, and the attorney general. The redacted documents are unclear about whether the JDL's activities targeting the Soviet Union were considered at the time to be those of an ally, target, or dangerous nuisance. The value of AIPAC's role as an FBI source on the JDL seems to have been short-lived, even during the Cold War. By the mid-1980s, as the Jonathan Pollard spy affair was breaking, AIPAC itself was moved back from the "asset" to "liability" column as a domestic espionage target, while a Department of Energy study concluded, "For more than a decade, the Jewish Defense League (JDL) has been one of the most active terrorist groups in the United States. ... Since 1968, JDL operations have killed 7 persons and wounded at least 22."

There is no record that Isaiah Kenen ever repudiated the JDL.

Thanks to the long-term PR efforts of AIPAC, its executive committee organizations, and captured departments of U.S. government agencies, Muslims are fast becoming one of the most reviled, targeted, and disenfranchised groups in America. Hard-liners in the Israel lobby want to replace the Soviet Union with another fearsome enemy the U.S. and Israel can appear to "ally against." That's why all Americans should review the Israel lobby's own troubling past before clambering aboard its freshly painted anti-Islamic bandwagons.

Many important questions about AIPAC remain to be answered.

The U.S. Department of Justice still has no response to public concerns about why the lobbying division of an organization it secretly ordered to register [.pdf] as a foreign agent in 1962 has been allowed to continue engaging in illegal activities in concert with a foreign government. The IRS is at long last beginning to question the false claims of Israeli "charity" fronts principally set up (like their Haganah network forebears) to launder tax-deductible donations into West Bank settlement building and other illegal endeavors. The IRS would do well to review the tax status of the core enabling organization still engaging in precisely the kinds of activities one might expect from such mezzanine-level funding.

James Petras' powerful 2006 book titled, "The Power of Israel in the United States" explained the enormous Jewish Lobby influence on US Middle East policies. Often harming American interests, they're pursued anyway because of its grassroots and high-level control over government, the business community, academia, the clergy and mass media since at least the 1960s.

Intolerant of opposing views, they're suppressed for its own agenda, funded by PR propaganda domestically and overseas, America's top publications paid off to go along, now revealed by a secret document subpoenaed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (FRC) investigation into the American Zionist Council (AZC), AIPAC's parent lobbying arm.

"Between 1962 - 1963, the FRC subpoenaed" AZC's internal documents, examining their activities as "registered agents of foreign principals," learning that over $5 million in tax exempt (and perhaps overseas funds) "had been laundered through the Jewish Agency's American Section into the (AZC)."

The Agency is a quasi-Israeli government branch, funded to review legislation ahead of its submission to the Knesset under its Covenant Agreement - in violation of IRS regulations regarding tax exempt charitable funds and the 1938 Foreign Agents Registration Act.

No matter. Israel got a pass to act illegally for nearly 50 years, doing it today more aggregiously than ever. In 1962, after being ordered to register as a foreign agent, AZC transferred its responsibilities to AIPAC, "which refuses to register as (an Israeli) foreign agent" and gets away with it.

In November/December 1960, news and editorial content covered Israel's new nuclear reactor (for peace, not bombs they said), Arab refugees when the General Assembly was discussing them, the Eichmann case, Israel's aid to African states, and seating the UAR in the Security Council, reports presenting one-sided, pro-Israeli propaganda.

"It can be said that the press of the nation, during 1960, has by and large shown sympathy and understanding of Israel's position." Arab views have been largely "counteracted."

"The US contingent of 60 Mayors returned from Israel where they attended (an earlier) Conference....While (there), a number of them were interviewed by (US reporters) who sent (pro-Israeli) stories back to their hometown papers; they were also recorded in interviews for local radio stations."

Other plans were made to have those attending meet with Jewish and Christian audiences to disseminate friendly Israeli commentaries. In addition, opinion makers are invited to Israel at government expense, paid off to report friendly stories. An Israeli student got a scholarship "to transfer to the Monterey Peninsula College where propaganda carried on by three Arab professors has been most hurtful."

Other schools were infiltrated the same way. Further, "We continue to cultivate (pay off) faculty people in many areas and are making progress here....our friends in San Francisco (are trying) to persuade Stanford to drop Fayez Sayeh from the faculty on the grounds that he is a paid propagandist rather than an objective academician." Efforts at other US schools were similar - pressure to fire Arab professors, replacing them with pro-Israeli ones.

"Prof. Arnold Toynbee was invited to spend about five months in this country....When (his) accusations first broke in the press, we (enlisted) major non-Zionist groups and evolved a common policy (to):

(1) Discourage all Jewish (organizations) from issuing invitations to Toynbee;

(2) Monitor all (his) public appearances and refrain from bringing up the subject of Israel or the Jews unless Toynbee raises the subject in his presentation."

Overall, measures were taken to counteract his unfriendly Israeli positions, the same policy used against all critical public figures, strike back to discredit them.

Calling the American Council for Judaism (ACJ) "the most effective anti-Zionist and anti-Israeli force on the American scene," efforts were made to give them "much more attention....than in the past."

Bribing major US publications and their writers helped do it, including at the Reader's Digest, Atlantic Monthly, Look, Holiday, Parade, Saturday Review, the New York Times Magazine, and various women's and business ones. Today, the entire US major media serve as Israel's PR arm, its mouthpiece, the fruition of efforts begun 50 years ago.

Earlier, and of course now, TV shows were also arranged, and "We continue to counteract Arab speakers wherever they appear, by placing our own speakers on the same platforms...." In addition, "Mailings have gone out to public opinion molders dealing with current issues...."

In November 1961, the Atlantic Monthly was paid off to run a pro-Israeli "64-page Supplement, (featuring) some of Israel's top names." Earlier in September, the Atlantic ran a "20-page article on "The Arabs of Palestine" which is "one of the best (we've seen done) on the subject." Jack Anderson also did a friendly piece for Parade Publications after returning from Israel.

In addition, AZC officials arranged speaking engagements for pro-Israeli figures throughout the country. Their mission - counteract "anti-Israeli propaganda....a careful check of newspapers, bulletins and confidential sources of our own (can) give us reliable information on the movements and itineraries of these propagandists." Community contacts were then alerted to furnish speakers to discredit them.

AZC's Research Bureau also analyzed books and articles on Israel. "When a book is favorable, it is recommended. When (it's not), it is analyzed and distortions are pointed up by providing the factual data required, so that our local Councils will be prepared to react....Further, we (arrange) book presentations (in) community and university libraries...."

Written for the AZC, Marc Siegel's play, "A Message from Dimona" was described by The New York Times as a "story of a new city in the Israeli desert," suppressing the reactor's bomb-making purpose, Israel's open secret, well known, but not discussed.

"The nuclear reactor story inspired (other) editorial writers, columnists, science writers and cartoonists. Most of (them) accept(ed) the thesis that the reactor was being built for peaceful purposes and not for bombs....Drew Pearson's syndicated column justified Israel's secrecy; (science writer) William Laurence in the New York Times stressed Israel's peaceful intent."

In 1945, the same William Laurence led a double life as both Times science writer and shill on the War Department's payroll. Writing press releases for the Manhattan Project, he mislead the public, sold the program, lied about Alamorgordo, NM tests and the Hiroshima/Nagasaki horrors. He also denied what historian/attorney Jonathan M. Weisgall later called the "silent nuclear terror of radioactivity and radiation" - that it condemns exposed people to a slow, painful death, but it benefitted Laurence.

He won a Pulitzer Prize for his lying, and got to fly on the plane that bombed Nagasaki, later describing the experience in The Times with religious awe. Today, the entire US major media cheerlead for Israel, even its most unjustifiable, unconscionable, criminal acts. Entirely suppressed is its history of international law violations, including:

-- a violence doctrine over peace;

-- crimes of war and against humanity;

-- excessive force and abuse;

-- collective punishment and economic strangulation;

-- expanding illegal settlements;

-- dispossessions and home demolitions;

-- mass arrests and political imprisonments;

-- targeted assassinations and torture;

-- land theft and crop destruction;

-- policies of closure, separation, isolation, checkpoints, ghettoization and curfews;

-- denial of the most fundamental human rights and civil liberties; and

-- an overall Kafkaesque "matrix of control" designed to crush Palestinians' will to resist.

In the old days, journalists were bought off to ignore them. They now do it willingly and reflexively, knowing the consequences otherwise, the Israeli Lobby's power to remove unfriendly voices - from Congress, academia and the media.

Demanded is that Israel be portrayed as peaceful, never aggressive, surrounded, beleaguered, and victimized, acting solely in self-defense. In contrast, Palestinians are called militant terrorist threats to Israeli security, its propaganda machine relentless in pounding that message, the Senate's investigation failing to expose and halt it.

As a result, it's more virulent and pervasive than ever, what no congressional committee will touch, what no major media report will reveal. Israel's power in America suppresses everything unfavorable, willing fourth estate stooges going along, or else.

It's why Project Censored warns about a "truth emergency," the urgency for media reform, and need for a cadre to do what all responsible journalists should - their job, what's sorely absent in America, especially in reports about Israel.

We are approaching another ominous anniversary in American History without anyone acknowledging it- not even a peep from the mainstream media. When Iranian students took hostages in Tehran and kept them for 444 days, for those of us who remember those terrible days know that the Media reported for hours about that ordeal on daily basis- and there was no Fox News and CNN. But, this ominous anniversary has nothing to do with Iran. To learn about this ongoing ordeal, we need to go back in time- more than 60 years.

It's been over 65 years since President Franklin Roosevelt, on his way back home from the Big Three Conference at Yalta, met with King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia onboard US warship in Suez Canal. It was aboard Warship USS Quincy where FDR promised King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia that there will be no Israel. Little did he know, after his death- which came about in a few weeks after this meeting- this promise would be interpreted as a personal promise not as a heads of the state promise and in a short few years of his death Israel would be established. King Abdul Aziz even rejected creation of Israel in Libya and felt it would be unfair to North African Muslims. Of course, all this changed once FDR died in the arms of his long time lover Lucy Mercer.

For Truman it took 20 minutes to recognize the state of Israel when it declared independence in 1948. He did so in the face of opposition from the top U.S. diplomats and military officials that guided its foreign policy in 1947 and were opposed to the idea of establishing a Jewish state in Palestine and pressed then-President Harry Truman not to recognize the new state, arguing that such a move would harm the U.S. position in the Arab Middle East. But, this was a welcoming opportunity for a Christian Zionist to endorse the postwar partition of Palestine and recognize the new Jewish state there. And of course, let's not forget his whistle-stop train campaign that was greased by hundreds of thousands of dollars from Zionists.

Even though, Truman referred to New York City as "Kike town" and at one point he made the remark: "The Jews, I find are very, very selfish. They care not how many Estonians, Latvians, Finns, Poles, Yugoslavs or Greeks get murdered or mistreated as displaced persons as long as the Jews get special treatment. Yet when they have power, physical, financial or political neither Hitler nor Stalin has anything on them for cruelty or mistreatment to the underdog." For Truman, it was a religious obligation as a christian Zionist- he saw himself as an instrument to fulfill the covenant. This uneducated President who was handpicked to become senator in 1934 by the corrupt Missouri Democrat Mobs, controlled by Tom Pendergast, had no idea that he was making the gravest mistake of his life and began a captivity of the US Government with no end in sight.

This was Truman's second big mistake after dropping the bombs on Japan. This loony religious zealot threatened countries around the world by dropping the big one. This product of corrupt Democratic Party recognoized an enclave of violent Jewish extremists soon after they ethnically cleansed 400-plus Palestinian villages. There is no question dropping the bombs on Japan was the most horrifying action in history of mankind, but recognizing the Zionist regime was basically turning over America to the Zionist regime. It is almost like walking in the captivity cell with your own feet and locking yourself up and handing over the keys to the captors. No one will ever forget the horror of the bombs, but it is an event that took place and recorded in history books. Recognizing Israel is not a one-time event, it is not like recognizing Liberia or Mali as a nation, this was beginning of horror to come. Not a day goes by that we do not get reminded of this ongoing torture- be it Madoff on Wall Street or Rahm Emanual, whose father was a terrorist in ethnic cleansing, on Pennsylvania Avenue.

This was a great achievement for Israel to be recognized by the U.S., zionists had used England in the first half of the 20th century as a stepping stone to get to this point. With England serving its purpose in helping to establish Israel- who were a great host close to three centuries and the fact Churchill handily destroyed British Empire; it was time to move on to the next host.

Truman left the office disgraced and with the least popularity numbers as a President, only George Bush Jr may come close to that. This unpopularity had nothing to do with Israel. The numbers would have been worse if Americans knew what Truman had done to their country. But, it was 1953 and Ike was the President. Everyone was giddy about Korean War being wrapped up- as soon as negotiators could decide on the shape of the negotiating table- oval or rectangle- America is about to roll into nifty fifties.

It was during the Ike years that Israelis were able to define their policies towards the U.S.. One of the defining moments came in 1956, when France, England, and Israel invaded Egypt- what's known as Tripartite Invasion- the intent of the invasion was to gain back control of Suez Canal. It did not take long for Eisenhower to issue an ultimatum to these countries to back off. Reluctantly, they retreated from Suez Canal, but it is well known Israelis implemented a scorch earth policy as they retreated to their enclave.

It was after this war that England decided to follow and support U.S. policies no matter what- hence, lapdog policy. France decided to oppose U.S. policies where they can. And, Israel decided they need to take control of U.S. Foreign policy. During the Suez crisis Eisenhower refused to meet American Jewish leader who were trying to influence U.S. foreign policy.

This crisis also was the turning point for America to take control of the old England and France colonies and make them satellite states to the U.S. Government. A step that turned U.S. from a republic to an empire building power.

During these years Israel was trying to plant the seeds of control inside and outside of the U.S.. This meant resorting to any means to establish themselves in American Society. From Miami Beach, New York Jewish Mob- whom to this date are operating and use Israel as base of their operation- to infiltrating into the Government, Financial Institution, and Schools.

David Ben-Gurion also ordered bombing of American and British offices in Egypt using sleeper cells, local Jews, to cause friction between Egypt and the Western powers. This operation is known as Lavon Affair. Israel honored these terrorist as heroes. To this day, Israel employs any means to keep their influence over U.S.. Jews had never forgotten that during the Second World War, the U.S. government would not take any action that might have impeded the slaughter of European Jews.

Hearing anti-Semitic speeches of public officials such as Representative John Rankin of Mississippi on the floor of Congress in the 50's, made Israelis more resolved to take over the Congress.

As with any nation resisting external forces and foreign values, Americans were trying to fend off these advances. Elite universities including Harvard, Yale, and Princeton maintained quotas limiting Jewish enrollments seeing a backlash of take over of Jews in the school system. It is similar to the resistance seen in the old England. In Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, he introduces a character named Shylock who is a Jewish usurer who lends money to his Christian rival, Antonio, setting the bond at a pound of Antonio's flesh. Looking at the Financial institution and their interest rate, Antonio probably got a good deal.

One of the major tools used to keep America hostage in the hands of Zionist started in the 50's. With the help of the France, Israel started working on the Nuclear Bomb. This also gave France a chance to take a shot at U.S. standing in the world. This work was done in secret and U.S. was not aware of this fact until years later.

Eisenhower, the war hero, did not think of Israeli threat much and he managed them like any other foreign country and he was more preoccupied with communist threat. This gave Israeli's and its supporters time to lay the ground for later stages.

Israel and its supporters had a hard time in Kennedy's era. One of the applausable theories on JFK's assassination is that Jacob Rubenstein, known as Jack Ruby, who killed JFK's assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, wanted to silence Oswald and Ruby took the fall for the Israeli Jewish Mob. He basically eliminated the President who was not very friendly to Israel.

As a second act, Robert Kennedy was assassinated by a "Palestinian" named Sirhan Sirhan who claimed that he was angry at Robert Kennedy for his support of Israel. The ironic part of the story is that a few years earlier Robert Kennedy had ordered to list an organization named the American Zionist Council (AZC) as an Israel's foreign agent since the Department of Justice discovered the AZC had secretly received millions of Dollars in Israeli funds to build a domestic lobby and conduct public relations in the United States for arms, aid, and preferential diplomatic treatment. At the end, the AZC managed to file a partial activity declaration covering only three months as opposed to many years of lobbying for Israel. They also managed to keep the names of all the recipients receiving payments from Israel be kept secret. Soon after that AZC changed its name to AIPAC. This is how the AIPAC as we know came to existence with members in every walk of life from Wolf Blitzer to Rahm Emanuel. It is the same AIPAC that everyone in the Government must answer to. As recent as March, 2010, when Hillary Clinton was summoned to explain their comments on the new East Jerusalem Jewish settlements.

In short, Kennedys were eliminated by Israelis because of the trouble they caused them. Meanwhile, Israel and France had completed the development of Nuclear Bombs. Eisenhower and Kennedy tried to question and stop Israeli on Nuke development but they were ignored and outmaneuvered by Zionists. America was about to be put on the Shackle for unforeseeable future. Having Nuclear Bombs meant the last nail was driven in the coffin of America's independence and freedom. From that point on U.S. was taken hostage as a full fledge chained nation and not a single decision would be made before evaluating the benefits for Zionists.

In the era of LBJ, this imprisonment was tested. It was during the Six-Day war on June 8, 1967 when Israeli jet fighter attacked USS Liberty and killed 34 crew members (naval officers, seamen, two Marines, and a civilian). The interesting fact is that this ship was a Navy technical research ship. But, it did present a perfect case for Israeli's to demonstrate that U.S. cannot do anything about it- retaliation was out of the question. The message was sent to Washington. Washington was in bondage. This incident harbingered the domination of Israeli's over America. The capitulation was complete.

Starting with Nixon administration, more and more Zionists infiltrated the political systems in America and directed the policies of current administration. Almost every President after Nixon, including Nixon, made their disgust known about the Zionist except Clinton and Obama, but that's all they could do, just show their true feelings through words not actions. Nixon once said, "The Jews are irreligious, atheistic, immoral bunch of bastards."

It was in Nixon time that with the help of Kissinger Mossad agents stole 200 pounds of highly enriched uranium from a nuclear fuel processing plant in Pennsylvania enough material to make ten nuclear bombs. It was also during Nixon Administration that U.S. Government agreed to shield the Israelis from nuclear scrutiny, without asking for anything in return. Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon described by Prime Minister Golda Meir as "the best friend Israel ever had," Nixon agreed in 1969 to endorse "constructive ambiguity" as a means for Tel Aviv to obscure its nuclear arsenal. Meanwhile the Zionists used the threat of the Nukes to seize the land they sought for expansion.

Up to then Zionists were only successful to bring U.S. Government to their knees, the bigger and more important task was on hand- that was to bring American people under their control and place the yoke of control around their necks without them knowing- Americans are proud people they would never allow anybody to do that to them- they would rather die before they would take any of this- just take a look at New Hampshire motto- "Live Free or Die". But, Submission of the US Government to Israelis paved the way for the Zionist to have their way with American people. To bring the mass population into compliance, the effort had to be multi-prong and comprehensive, it had to cover all aspects of American life- social, political, education, entertainment, spiritual, Financial, industrial, and whatever that Americans cared for.

And that's when the wheels of infiltration started turning. The two most important segments that Zionist focused on in the decade of 70's were politics and religion. They already had a great success in social, education, and various industries including entertainment. The Zionist mob since 1930's had invested in Hollywood and other entertainment venues from TV networks to Movie studios, even to this day they are the biggest owner of gambling and Porn in America. And, in the 60's, they modified the norms of society to a more pregnable form for decades to come. The same with the education system, by the 1960s, Jews already constituted 20% of the faculty of elite universities and 40% of the professors of elite law schools; today, these percentages are much higher and this has nothing to do with smarts but it has to do with every un-American practice and values one can imagine.

Still the toughest nuts to crack were politics and religion. Gradually, in Nixon's Administration the Zionist started to take over. One the best positions to be in any administration were to be in the team of speechwriters. It is almost like putting words in the mouth of the President. The best example was when George Bush Junior uttered the words, Axis of evil, which was written by a Canadian Zionist David Frum. Poor Bush had no idea what he was saying- or even more recent when Obama, a Black President, used a racist reference to call Israel, "the jewish state of Israel, a reference that even Truman a Christian Zionist President refrained to use.

One of the most despicable speechwriter of all time started with Nixon's administration. William Safire was so opinionated that when Carter refused to bomb Iran, he considered his biggest defeat of his life. Safire did not stop there, he wanted to bomb El Salvador, Nicaragua, Iraq, and any entity who had the remotest dislike towards Israel.

One of the major components of Zionist arsenal was created during Nixon era but in the Democratic Party. At this juncture Republicans were hawkish enough for Zionist and Zionist were influencing the Republican agenda with ease. The real challenge was to transform the Democratic Party into a hawkish Party. The game plan for Zionist was to have both parties in control so it would not matter which Party is running the Government. As a revealing example was the 2008 Senate election for Minnesota where both candidates Norm Coleman, the Republican incumbent was running against carpet bagger Al Franken. This is in a state where only Fifty thousand Jews live in it. The Minnesotans were taken for a ride of their life watching a circus of election which brought them no respect.

After the defeat of McGovern, who was representing a milder and more humane face of Democratic Party in 1972, which was influenced by 60's so-called social justice movement- which is another ploy in Zionist game plan- the Zionist elements decided to redefine the Democratic Party to send the McGovern era into oblivion. The conduit to create a more hawkish Democratic Party was a pro-Israeli senator named Henry (Scoop) Jackson. Among the Zionist agents who surrounded the Scoop Jackson were Richard Perle, Elliot Abrams, Irving Kristol, Norman Podoretz, Frank Gaffney. This was the start of neo-conservatism that emerged in Clinton and Bush era with full force. This group of people later split up from Democratic Party claiming that Democrats are still not hawkish enough and infiltrated the Republican Party. The 2003 invasion of Iraq and the lies leading to this invasion was all the work of Richard Perle, Prince of darkness, and rest of the neo-con gang of Republican Party. The ones that remained in the Democratic Party took control of the Party a few years later in Clinton era. The neo-cons showed that they have no party loyalty and they go where the power is.

Interesting note on these neo-cons is that most of them were Trotskyite Socialist.

The short-lived Ford Administration following the disgraceful exit of Nixon did not make any significant changes to the presence of Zionist in his Administration. Somewhat meaningful change came in Carter Administration where Carter excluded the neo-libs from his Administration but did employ ardent Zionists in his Administration. Carter gave enough reason for most neo-cons to move towards Republican Party.

Seventies was the decade that Christian Zionism was reaching new heights with the help of Israelis who lived in America and sounded and acted like Americans. Benjamin Netanyahu who practically grew up in the US was very active to make Christian Zionsim a mainstream political force in America. Leaders such as Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and many others were instrumental with the help of Israel to have a strong say in political arena, The best example of this influence was re-election of Bush in 2004. America has become from a Christian country to a politically label of Judeo-Christian country. This was done by tremendous effort of Zionist inside and outside of the U.S.. With this accomplishment, it was quite manageable to bring the mass population into compliance. Engraining Judeo-Christian in religious psyche of Americans would have a lasting effect to manipulate American way of thinking.

It was in the Reagan era that Zionist found the opportune time to propagate through the American industries and at the same time continue with their machination in the foreign affairs. While they took credit for success of Reagan in the Cold War period, they were more active on the home front as America was busy paying attention to Iran-Contra affair, Mr.'s Reagan-Gorbachev Romance, and Russia in Afghanistan. Even though one of their neo-con cohort, Elliott Abrams, was caught in Iran-Contra affair, they did not slow down. As with Mr. Abrams, he was granted Presidential pardon by George H.W. Bush, and he continues with his evil acts to this day.

Along with penetration into the main stream American industries and high business growth in Israel which was financed by American Tax payers, the American Zionist were able to pass a law in 1985, Israel Free Trade Implementation Act, to open a wide trade door to Israeli companies to give them a preferential treatment even over their American counterpart. This was a huge success for Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir and AIPAC which worked on this legislation for two years. Even though, FBI became involved in investigating the role of AIPAC in this legislation but as always nothing favorable came out of this for American people.

This gave small Israeli companies a tremendous exposure to Huge US market. With the help of the sellout Congress, these Israeli companies were allowed to even get into the government contracts. This of course was another step in destruction of manufacturing base in US and weakening the US in the consumer market and pushing them even more towards a more military industries and further away from what a true America stood for. But, Israelis knew too well that only an economy based on military expansion and low moral values can guarantee the security of Israel.

With the start of the Bush 41 presidency, everything looked favorable for Zionists. With collapse of Soviet Union, they had focused on shaping this President's term as a neo-con launch pad- they had even worked the phrase "New World Order" in the President's speech. It was high time for neo-con when the elder Bush went after Saddam to "free" Kuwait in 1991, but soon after that things got sour for the neo-cons when Bush Senior tried to put America's weight behind settlement of the Israel-Palestinian conflict, many neo-con decided to give the Democratic Party a second chance. Interesting enough Bush Senior became a one term President. He would be the last President from pre baby boomer generation. It was time for neo-cons to focus on new breed of Presidents- the baby boomer generation.

In comes the slick willie, with neo-con honing in on a charming southerner, they signed on as advisers to Bill Clinton to help him out in his bid for the White House. Clinton was able to even bring on more neo-con and Zionist into his circle when he met Rahm Emanuel- the same king whisperer for Obama, who introduced Bill Clinton to all the influential Zionists in the East Coast and the West Coast. Bill Clinton's Presidency was the high time for the Zionist in American Political system. The entry gained by the Zionist would permanently open the doors to foreign forces with no regard to American interests. Bill Clinton's price for America was very cheap. He sold America to Israelis for only personal gains. From his sex scandals to all shady financial dealings the Zionists were right in the middle of it. When George Soros was architecting disintegration of Yugoslavia, Bill Clinton was very open to Balkan Massacre as long as he would benefit from it. His Administration was infested with corrupt Zionists. He became the only Administration in the US History who had the most Zionists in key positions- only to be topped by Obama's administration. He had basically turned over the responsibility of running America to Zionist and Israelis. It was in his Presidency that the Trio of Greenspan, Summers, and Rubin set the stage for the collapse of the Commodity and the Housing market in later years. Then again, Clinton simply did not care- it was more important for him to personally benefit from his presidency. His Secretary of Treasury Rubin alone made Clinton close to $500 million. Of Course, Mr. Rubin himself did very nice while he was destroying CitiBank and destroying American livelihood.

Zionist failure to place one of their own, Joe Lieberman, along with a clueless Gore in the White House meant they need to change strategy and gain grounds in incompetent George Bush's administration. Even though it was harder for the older socialist neo-cons who thrived under Democratic administration, they managed to infiltrate into Bush's administration through external thinkthanks and position themselves as advisors. Younger neo-cons were more open to change color and be part of the administration such as Wolfowitz and Perle and operate within Administration.

What neo-cons had in the cards for George Bush was anticipated years ago- around when Israel was created. In 1948, a Joint Chiefs paper titled "Force Requirements for Palestine" predicted that the "Zionist strategy will seek to involve the US in a continuously widening and deepening series of operations intended to secure maximum Jewish objectives."

911 event was the catalyst to involve the US in an unending adventurism which would only benefit Israeli at the expense of American lives and liberty. The deconstruction phase of America by Zionist which had begun with Clinton administration was now in full swing. Election of Obama only solidified the position of Zionist in the Government- with Obama having the most members in his cabinet who hold Israeli Passport. These people consider the Constitution a piece of old paper which has no bearing on what America stands for. As Rahm Emanuel said once- Constitution is way overrated. What we are witnessing is the zenith of deconstruction of America. America may have a lot of problems, but it does not deserve this. For past sixty plus years America has been misled and hijacked and held hostage with this foreign entity wishing only the worst for America. The Deconstruction phase of this tragedy will be examined in detail to help us understand the current affair in America.

US Envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell was highly enthusiastic about Israel's partial, temporary illegal settlement freeze stating "it is more than any Israeli government has done before and can help move toward agreement between the parties." In fact, Israel has done more. In 2005 Israel reversed settlement construction and its overt occupation of Gaza. Palestinians situation worsened under a strangulating economic blockade and total Israeli control of borders, airspace and maritime access. Ironically, those Americans seeking a permanent end to Israeli settlement activities face a predicament similar to the Palestinians. Peace in the Middle East depends on reversing a peculiar manifestation of illegal Israeli settlements right here at home. These US settlements were built not on stolen land, but the strategic territory of US governance through violations of the 1938 Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

Among Israel's first international efforts as a state was establishing an "Israel Office of Information" (IOI) in the United States in the fall of 1948. The IOI registered as a foreign agent with the US Department of Justice which required it not only to file activity reports about its efforts on behalf of Israel every six months, but also place a stamp on pamphlets and other materials circulating in the US that their true origin was the Israeli government.

The IOI quickly ran into trouble. It was cited by the FARA section for failing to disclose the existence of a California office. The FBI noticed it wasn't affixing disclosure stamps to the material it circulated. Isaiah Kenen, registered as a foreign agent of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, soon tired of such regulatory oversight and disclosures. He coordinated his IOI departure with the Israeli government from the IOI to lobby from a domestically chartered lobbying organization, the American Zionist Council (AZC). The DOJ ordered him to reregister, but he never did.

During a 1952 summit meeting, Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion proposed that leaders of major organizations centralize US lobbying and fundraising coordination under the American Zionist Council (AZC) rather than the quasi-governmental Jewish Agency. The AZC was a small umbrella organization that united the leadership of top organizations such as Hadassah and the Zionist Organization of America. But the AZC continued to rely heavily upon financial support from the quasi-governmental Jewish Agency in Jerusalem for public relations and lobbying until the 1960s. Between 1962-1963 a Senate and Justice Department investigation found the AZC and Kenen had received direction and the equivalent of $35 million from the Jewish Agency via its American Section in New York to lobby for US taxpayer-funded aid and arms. The Justice Department ordered the AZC to register as an Israeli foreign agent on November 21, 1962. This initiated a fierce DOJ/AZC battle that lasted until 1965, when the DOJ allowed the AZC to file a secret FARA declaration expecting it to shut down operations. The Jewish Agency was also forced shut down its American Section in New York after a rabbi and George Washington University legal scholar forced it to file its secret 1953 "covenant agreement" with the Israeli government which conferred governmental powers to the Jewish Agency.

The AZC quietly and quickly reorganized lobbying operations within its former division, internally referred to as the "Kenen Committee" (today called the American Israel Public Affairs Committee or AIPAC) which Isaiah Kenen led until 1975. The Jewish Agency also executed a shell company paper reshuffle, reemerging as the World Zionist Organization-American Section within the same building, with the same staff, management and publications.

Today, the most important nucleus of the Israeli government's power in America lies far outside its Washington DC embassy, official consulates, or properly registered FARA entities. The Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations consists of only two key paid employees according to its 2008 charitable tax return (PDF). Like the AZC under Ben-Gurion's mandate, the Conference of Presidents has only one true role: corralling American organizations into a US power base for the Israeli government. The Conference of President's roster now includes such curiously named organizations as the American Friends of Likud and Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs alongside old AZC mainstays such as the ZOA and Hadassah. As mandated by AIPAC's bylaws (PDF), all Conference of Presidents member organizations are part of AIPAC's executive committee, forming a combined grassroots lobbying might far more intimidating to the Justice Department than the old AZC.

Yet in reality, Israeli government's newest lobbying venture is nothing more than a rebranded AZC - the stealth foreign agency relationships remain, some hidden, others not. One visible geographic linkage to the Israeli government is the Conference of Presidents offices which are located at the same 633 Third Avenue New York address as the World Zionist Organization's American Section.

The World Zionist Organization-American Section, as the paper reincarnation of the Jewish Agency, is still compelled to register (PDF) as an Israeli foreign agent. In 2008 it spent $8,102,752, by far the largest expenditure of any registered foreign agent for Israel. Like its predecessor foreign agent, the Jewish Agency, the WZO American Section claims these large disbursements across America are mainly for "education" rather than political activity. Such claims are easily debunked.

The WZO was more accurately revealed by Israeli prosecutor Thalia Sasson in 2005 as being at the very center of illegal Israeli settlement activity in the West Bank. Shimon Peres estimated that up to $50 billion was laundered into illegal settlement construction. Today WZO/Conference of Presidents "education" initiatives include organizing rabbis to effectively campaign for war on Iran, activities that are not accurately disclosed on the WZO's disclosures to the Department of Justice.

The question of whether such Israeli-conceived plans are worth American blood and treasure are vitally important, as is rule of law. Under FARA, Americans have a clear right to full disclosure about AIPAC and the Conference of President's political activities, public relations and transfer of things of value on behalf of their foreign principal(s). As foreign lobbying organizations emerging directly from the American Zionist Council, these leaders of the Israel lobby carry an expanding information debt to American taxpayers expected to fund their many initiatives. Yet in spite of the 1961 order by the attorney general, since March of 1965, neither has filed a single public declaration at the FARA office. This means that AIPAC and the Conference of Presidents now owe Americans 88 semiannual FARA declaration filings. For its part, the WZO must begin to accurately disclose its heavy involvement in illegal West Bank settlements, which are opposed by the Obama administration.

Given the Israel lobby's past penchant for nondisclosure, such filings will no doubt garner a great deal of public scrutiny. Explanations for why so much classified US government information is passing between AIPAC it and its foreign principals in 1984 and 2005 have been a long time coming. These will be particularly timely and enlightening as Israel's drumbeat for US attacks on Iran grows louder. Until they again begin to register under FARA, Israel's principal colonization entities, the World Zionist Organization, political muscle (Conference of Presidents), and enforcer in Congress (AIPAC) are themselves illegal Israeli settlers in America.
