It’s contemptuous of fundamental human rights. It believes Jews are God’s chosen people. It thinks Arabs are subhumans. It favors eliminating them altogether. War is its instrument of choice.
Washington again was venue. A rogue’s gallery of participants attended. Warmongering speeches were featured. AIPAC does it annually. It disseminates disinformation, lies and hate.
Whenever Israel’s supporters today speak of a “special relationship” with the US that is supposedly graven in stone, it is useful to remember that something very different existed when Israel came into existence in 1948 on the gutted carcass of Palestine. The US recognized Israel, but that was about it. Hollywood was (and remains) largely a Jewish preserve, but their level of influence elsewhere – in the government, the media and academia – was limited. Prominent American Jews felt no obligation to endorse Israel or Israeli leaders, no matter what happened. Dozens (including Albert Einstein) signed a letter published in the New York Times in 1948 protesting the arrival of Menachem Begin and condemning his actions. And the general American public was largely indifferent to what happened in the Middle East.
There may not be a magic bullet to end the Zionist domination of the American political process, but in Chuck Hagel, we got a dud. I do not regret supporting him at the beginning, but I wish he had shown more fortitude as the process degenerated — admittedly a lot to ask, but then the position to which he was nominated cries out for someone like that, which it has not had for many years. Well, perhaps next time — if there is one — it’ll be a Marine in his place.
Until and unless we eradicate injustice, we have no reason to know beauty, for all that we create is tainted by that injustice pretending all is well with our world. Truth does not exist if injustice surrounds us and we are silent in our complicity. Proclaiming moral virtue in a world awash in crimes against humanity is condoning the crimes unless we act to eradicate the crimes.
The Syrian economy is being hit by the combined impacts of the US-NATO sponsored terrorist attacks and the economic sanctions regime. The ultimate objective of the US-NATO covert war on Syria is the destabilization of the Syria economy and the destruction of Syria as a nation state.
In effect, Hagel imbibed, adopted, and swallowed Israel’s laundry list of demands. NOTHING BUT ISRAEL is the concern of Jewish Americans in and out of government, the rest of the world can go to hell. Hagel lost and sold his soul, honor, dignity, self respect, courage, and principles to a powerful minority to secure a government job.
Several targeted countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, are categorized as “failed states”. The central question is: who is failing the failed states? Who is “Taking them Out”?
It is part of a covert United States military and intelligence agenda. Destroying countries is part of a US Imperial project, a process of global domination.
President Obama you must nominate Senator Chuck Hagel or forever be known as the President who surrendered our sovereignty and independence to a state whose belligerent policies against a defenseless people, the Palestinians, are condemned by the entire world.
Not nominating Senator Hagel will only further embolden Israel and its amen corner to further ensure that all such future decisions and nominations be first approved in Tel Aviv, not by the American people.
Netanyahu calls terrorism. His notion of peace is none at all. His idea of truth is avoid it. His governing style is hardline. His type security is naked aggression. Palestine’s liberation has miles to go. It’s well worth struggling for.
When it comes to criminal Israel, American nuclear hypocrisy go as far as criminalizing themselves by violating their own American laws to protect and support Israel financially, militarily, and politically.
It’s the entire planet on one side, versus the US, its new right-wing poodle to the north, Israel, and three tiny, bribed islands on the other side.
Were Obama to withdraw or credibly threaten to withdraw just a fraction of the support the United States provides, Israel would have no choice but to comply. But, of course, he will not. American political class enables Israel’s depredations. It is an in-grained habit.
Netanyahu will ignore memorandum of understanding ceasefire terms, maintain Gaza’s siege, manufacture pretexts to eliminate Israeli enemies, and kill Palestinian civilians he calls threats.
Arab governments was far more pro-active, Hamas was treated as “a political actor” with sovereign authority, Abbas, have been sidelined, overshadowed, and irrelevant. Israel accepted obligations toward the people of Gaza that it would never have agreed to before war.
Israel plans for death, and, terror, terror, terror, terror, terror; so what you choose to do is what you choose to be. Israel must be judged on this basis.
Israeli leadership knew exactly what it was doing. Israel’s policies seemed almost calculated to increase future ‘insecurity’ for its people and the region. Will they ever learn?

Blame Gaza victims always. Israeli aggression is called self-defense. Legitimate defense is called terrorism. Media scoundrels support Israel in lockstep.

That CNN’s prime mission is to serve the US government is hardly news. But given the magnitude of these kinds of accusations – their obvious ability, if not intent, to bolster animosity on the part of the US public toward Iran and heighten tensions between the two nations – shouldn’t CNN at least pretend to be a bit more skeptical and even-handed about how it is reporting these claims?
Uniting Netanyahu and Lieberman is bad enough. Combined with Uzi Arad’s influence makes it combustible. They deplore peace. They spurn democratic values. Why Israelis tolerate them they’ll have to explain. They should vote them out of office instead.
To the chagrin of Israeli leaders, the US military might have derailed, for now, another world disaster, fearing the cost of war in protracted conflict.
Sanctions are working in the hurting people. But not forcing Iran to abandon its nuclear programme. Expecting uprising to overthrows the Islamic regime?
Iran sanctions now causing food insecurity, mass suffering. Yet again, the US and its allies spread mass human misery, morally indefensible and counterproductive.
Enter Netanyahu, and his cartoon. Abbas’s warning was all but forgotten. What we saw at the UNGA last week was a microcosm of a much larger and ongoing strategy on the part of Netanyahu: to use the Iranian issue to make the Palestinian issue disappear. Netanyahu uses Iran to marginalize the Palestinian issue and place a check on President Obama.
The Israeli government knows that it cannot be forthright and say that it wants Americans to go to war with Iran so that Israel can steal southern Lebanon. But if fear over nonexistent nukes can muster the Western populations to support an attack on Iran, Iran can be eliminated as Hizbollah’s supplier, and Israel can steal the water from Lebanon.
There is no discussion whatsoever of the real agenda anywhere in the US print and TV media. I doubt there is any discussion anywhere in Europe, which is a collection of american puppet states.
Iran poses a great threat to Zionist terrorist state of Israel. Iran poses even greater threat to the present hegemonic world order controlled by the Western power elite through their financial institutions and the undemocratic United Nation with all its many branches. In the perspective of both Israel and the Western power elite, Iran, as a threat, needs to be weakened and eliminated through regime change, through economic sanctions, through terror attacks, and if need be through war.
Netanyahu had noted “rightly, that Israel’s intelligence agencies are superb”. They are not. Israel’s intelligence on Lebanon has been pitiful for two decades, and it was these same “agencies” who assured Powell back in 2003 that Iraq did indeed have weapons of mass destruction. Later, we somehow forgot that little bit of false Israeli “intelligence” input.
Watch Clown Clawson amble to the podium, nonchalantly glancing to his presumed peers who sit at either side of the podium awaiting his intervention and words of wisdom as they face a crisis of apparent calamity, how to force the United States to attack Iran.
Israel has admitted to previous use of false flag attacks to justify war against Middle Eastern nations. For example, Israel admits that an Israeli terrorist cell operating in Egypt planted bombs in several buildings, including U.S. diplomatic facilities.
Imagine if Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, who addressed the UN that day minutes before Netanyahu took the stage, had said: “Militant Judaism has many branches, from the Washington offices of AIPAC to the center of Jewish power in Tel Aviv – but they’re all rooted in the same soil” of intolerance? Picture him conjuring images of violent Jewish “fanaticism” – not a hard task, given what is happening in Israel today. If he had done so, Abbas would have been denounced in every Western capital as the 21st century incarnation of Hitler.
He exceeds the worst of Ariel Sharon and previous hardline leaders. He’s an embarrassment to democratic governance. He should have been kept out of New York instead of let in. He should be locked up for humanity’s sake. He deplores peace. He’s all take and no give. He calls diplomacy a four-letter word. He turns a blind eye to equity and justice. He’s contemptuous of human and civil rights. He maliciously calls Iran’s peaceful nuclear program an existential threat.
Uri Avnery argues that Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak, and their sycophantic parrots in the media and the political establishment, are leading Israel to disaster, just as Golda Meir and Moshe Dayan did in 1973, except this time it could be much worse.
The business of America is war. Policy calls for permanent ones. Wall Street and war profiteers demand them. Policy makers oblige. The Times and other media scoundrels show support. Imperial dominance, wealth, power and privilege alone matter. Throughout its history, its record reflects shame and contempt for humanity. Corporate interests are endorsed. So are imperial wars.
