One Palestinian Prisoner Could Change the Balance

Analysis by Jerrold Kessel and Pierre Klochendler | Sabbah Report | www.sabbah.biz
Occupied Jerusalem, Nov 30 – The fate of one prisoner locked in an Israeli jail could release the moribund Israeli-Palestinian peace process from its own jail – provided the timing is right.
The political timing is definitely ripe.
This week a major residual source of tension [...]

The Palestinian Prisoners' Plight

By, Bianca Zammit* and Fadi Skaik** | Sabbah Report | www.sabbah.biz
There are currently approximately 11,000 Palestinian prisoners being held captive in Israeli jails across Israel. Whilst their imprisonment is of itself in direct contravention of international law, the whole arrest, judiciary and imprisonment process compromises their basic human rights. In Gaza, the families of prisoners [...]

What's a Jewish soldier's life worth?

"Netanyahu: Swapping prisoners for Shalit would harm Israel"
(i.e. Not a hell of a lot. But if he gets killed, they will make him a martyr and exploit it for all it's worth! The dead are always of much greater value to the Israelis than the living.)
Netanyahu also said that he would not serve as [...]

By Uri Avnery's – Gush Shalom

AT THIS moment, negotiations on a prisoner exchange are in full swing.
The term "negotiations" is really inappropriate. "Haggling" seems more fitting. One could also use an uglier expression: "trafficking in human beings".
The planned deal concerns living people. They are being treated like goods, for which the officials [...]
