The system of ID cards is used as a weapon to further cement the fragmentation of the Palestinian population as it confines the Palestinians to their geographic Israeli-controlled Bantustans, forbidding Palestinians with Gaza IDs entry into the West Bank and Jerusalem and vice versa.
Israel presses on with plans for 6,000 new settler homes. They won’t stop until virtually all Palestine is colonized. Israel planned it long ago. Netanyahu’s expediting what most Knesset members approve.
In light Khaled Meshal could respond to Netanyahu’s letter with these words: “No, prime minister, it is me who has to thank you for what you are doing to destroy your state!”
Civil society calls for trade sanctions but Hague says EU has ‘no enthusiasm’. Now he shames us again by shirking firm action against the racist Israel’s endless land thieving and general lawlessness.
The quest for peace based on the co-existence between Israel and Palestine has taken a big step forwards. Unity between the Palestinians should be the next. US support for the actual creation of the State of Palestine should come soon after.
Ireland is planning to utilize its upcoming term as President of the Council of the European Union, which begins on January 1 2013, to advance efforts to achieve a joint decision between all 27 member states to ban products from West Bank Settlements.
The survey indicates that a third to half of Israeli Jews want open discrimination against its Arab citizens. The large majority wants an apartheid state.
The Galilee First. The international community, and Palestinian leadership, should call for the world to witness the reality of Palestinians inside Israel.
Liberal Zionists though find it dangerous, and for many years have been trying to square the circle in an attempt to justify Israel’s apartheid policies. Jewish communities, of course, are allergic to the very idea. No, it’s not the recognition that Israel is an apartheid state that’s dangerous, it’s Israel itself that is dangerous; dangerous to Palestinians, dangerous to Jews in Israel and abroad, and dangerous to the world beyond.
An Interview With Noam Chomsky: Everybody is already furious at Israel. Even in Europe, it is regarded as the most dangerous state in the world, and it is becoming a pariah state. People in the U.S. should be breaking through the media and general doctrinal barriers to come to know what is going on.
Why does Prime Minister Fayyad wish to ‘improve’ the Paris Protocols, despite the severe limitations that it imposes on the PA’s ability to choose their own economic regime and adopt trade policies?
Call it an open secret. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, unelected Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, and like-minded Fatah officials collaborate with Israel’s occupation harshness.
Israel invents its own version of reality. Orwellian doublespeak defines it. Fundamental occupying power obligations are violated. State authorities and settlers reap benefits. Numerous military orders violate international law. It’s been twisted, inverted, manipulated, distorted, undermined, and spurned to justify the unjustifiable.
In a new series, Haaretz explores the inequitable distribution of drinking water in the West Bank, where supply for the Palestinian falls far short of that of their settler neighbors as well as the standard set out by the WHO.
Protesters, who are not affiliated with a single political faction, are vowing to keep up the pressure until their demands are met. Their demands include the sacking of the Fayyad government and the annulment of the 1994 Paris Economic Protocol, which critics say put the entire Palestinian economy at Israel’s mercy.
Even before his latest reported gaffe the polls were indicating that Romney will fail in his Zionist-backed bid to deny President Obama a second term in the White House. There is also a growing realization in America that, on Netanyahu’s behalf, the Zionist lobby and its stooges in Congress have overplayed their hand in trying to influence the American election and push the US into war.
Uri Avnery argues that foreign aid and Israeli handouts from stolen Palestinian tax revenue provide only temporary relief from Israel’s economic strangulation of the Palestinians, and that a “Palestinian Spring” targeted at the occupation may come sooner rather than later.
Yes, we can, no, you can’t is policy. That’s what occupation is all about. Tyranny defines it. Author Sandy Tolan calls it the “show that time and the world forgot.”
Alan Hart outlines a strategy for saving the Palestinian cause from extinction: making Israel accountable for its occupation by dissolving the quisling Palestinian Authority and exposing Zionism’s propaganda, and mobilizing Palestinians everywhere to engage by peaceful and democratic means in the struggle to end the Zionization of their homeland.
Burning mosques, burning vehicles, settlers appear to have a blank cheque to harass and aggress Palestinians, writes Khaled Amayreh in occupied Jerusalem.
O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight
Did you know that Israel allows Gaza residents to enter the West Bank to attend their relatives’ weddings but not to get betrothed themselves? You don’t believe it?
Interior, justice and defense ministries decided to cease respecting a gentlemanly agreement with with Palestinians and their spouses holding passports of mostly western countries. Israel canceled their resident status.
Repeatedly, Israel preemptively bombs, shells, and inflicts other forms of lawless violence on Gazans, bogusly claiming self-defense. When they respond, Israel calls it terrorism.
With a sigh of relief, Netanyahu returned to his usual stance. Here he was, surrounded by generals, the he-man, the resolute fighter, the Defender of Israel.
It begs the question why Israelis put up with lawless governance harming them as well as Palestinians. When will weeks of social injustice outrage arouse them to embrace universal equity?
New U.S. formula: Palestinian recognition of the “Jewishness” of Israel in exchange for an American endorsement of a Palestinian “state” on unspecific parts of the West Bank and few scattered neighborhoods of occupied East Jerusalem.
Stuart Littlewood reminds Israel’s stooges and other ignoramuses in the US Congress of a few basic facts about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict – the sheer injustice suffered by the Palestinians at the hands of Israel and its US supporter – and concludes: “There is only one thing worse than being lied to, Congress. And that’s acting on a lie.”
The size of the territory allotted for Palestine state continued to shrink with every new Israeli settlement. Do the Palestinians want this state? No, clearly not.
Just imagine it… Several hundred thousand or better still one or two million Palestinians or more marching peacefully to the 1967 borders.
Israel is threatening to refuse to allow Palestinians living in the occupied Palestinian territory to receive visitors from abroad. We are not talking here about visitors such as the 5 million Palestinian refugees whom Israel has refused to allow to return to their homes after being expelled by force and fear when Israel was founded in 1948. Rather, the issue now is that foreigners who desire to visit the occupied Palestinian territory are being denied entry into Israel.
The Palestinian Authority, under Mahmoud Abbas, must immediately stop the limping and lackluster effort and present their resolution this September to the U.N. General Assembly to recognize a Palestinian State. This will be the only worthy initiative that the PA has ever adopted since its founding in which the far majority of the world is supportive.
The artificial division between Areas A, B and C was supposed to be erased from the map, and dropped from the discourse, in 1999. Instead, Israel has sanctified and perpetuated it.
The “Department of State” strongly urges that U.S. citizens refrain from all travel to the Gaza Strip, an area living under such breathtakingly awful conditions thanks to Israel that even Hitler would have objected. But we digress. We also recommend that all US citizens refrain from traveling to Israel ever again and that they actively participate in the boycott campaign against Israel known as the BDS.
