Palestine Papers … Uncovering the Well-Known

by Dr. Elias Akleh January 31, 2011

What was really surprising is how far the Palestinian Authority (PA) and its negotiators have been willing to offer the Israelis, who have rejected all the Palestinian generous and free concessions, and the total pro-Israeli bias of the self-claimed American honest peace broker, who exerted tremendous pressure on the PA to surrender even more concessions.

Selling the people short

by Paul J. Balles January 31, 2011

In a report for the Carnegie Foundation on US aid to Egypt, Ahmad Al-Sayed El-Naggar asks “Why don’t Egyptians notice the role of American aid to their country? The simple answer is that U.S. economic aid to Egypt, which amounted to $455 million in 2007, translated to only $6 per capita.”

US Ambassador’s bid to get Falk sacked from UN opens a can of worms

by Stuart Littlewood January 30, 2011

Falk’s crime was saying that the US administration’s reluctance to address the awkward gaps and contradictions identified by several scholars in the official explanations of 9/11, only fuels suspicions of a conspiracy. And he suggested that “what may be more distressing than the apparent cover up is the eerie silence of the mainstream media, unwilling to acknowledge the well-evidenced doubts about the official version of the events: an al Qaeda operation with no foreknowledge by government officials”.

Other despots should quail. Change is sweeping through the Middle East….” It remains to be seen what follows. Follow-up articles will explain more.

The Downfall of Mubarak of Egypt

by SR Editor January 30, 2011

This political unrest in Egypt might take a while, the stubborn regime of Mubarak might buy some time and concede to some of the protestors demans, he might announce that this would be his last term in office and he might want to drive his son – as rumours say-out of the country but what is certain is that the downfall of Mubarak will be -if not next Friday- on any given Friday.

As The Dominoes Flow Toward Israel

by William A. Cook January 30, 2011

How strange to watch our CNN talking heads, especially the Israeli trained Wolf Blitzer, former editor of AIPAC’s in house “Near East Report,” stuttering before the cameras as he recalled the fall of the Shah of Iran, America’s staunch ally for 25 years, as a direct result of similar riots by Iranian civilians, and the resulting loss of America’s control in Iran. He failed to mention that our friend had subjugated the Iranian people beneath the boots of his SAVAK mercenaries that protected his elegant life style while the people suffered under his despotic regime. Then as now our Presidents spoke of America’s support of human rights neglecting to mention the CIA’s overthrow of the elected nationalist (1951) Mohammed Mossadegh as Prime Minister.

by Mohamed Khodr January 29, 2011

Do not relent, do not give up, and do not rest until freedom rings from every mosque, every church, and every home. Bring these tyrants to justice to answer for their crimes against humanity and their theft of national wealth.

Hezbollah is the New Government of Lebanon. Now What?

by Franklin Lamb January 29, 2011

Hezbollah has the most direct control over the government of Lebanon including the Parliament, the next 30 seat Cabinet, and the government bureaucracy. Contrary to US-Israel claims the party is not thrilled with having the chance to run the government. Hezbollah sees itself as a resistance movement first, last, and always and many in the party do not relish its “pure mandate” being sullied or getting sidetracked by running Lebanon’s really complicated government.

An irrelevant House?

by Nadia Hijab January 7, 2011

Berman’s resolution reveals the glaring disconnect between what knee-jerk pro-Israel Representatives think is good for America and Israel, on the one hand, and reality on the other. They share this mental state with the State Department, whose meaningless mantra that only “direct negotiations can lead to comprehensive peace” is copiously quoted in the resolution.

Free Jonathan Pollard [Satire]

by Mantiq al-Tayr January 7, 2011

They are afraid to ask for anything more than clemency for Pollard. Hell, everyone in this country has known since they were tall enough to kiss Frank’s ass without having to stand on a stool that over 90 % of the members of the House and Senate would line up single file in a snowstorm outside of the Israeli embassy in Washington to give Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren a blow job if they were ordered to do so by Israel, so what’s this crap about just asking for clemency? And only 39 congressmen have signed the thing up until now! Oh my Allah, what has this world come to?

The U.S. needs to get tough with Israel

by Yousef Munayyer December 26, 2010

When diplomatic sources revealed that the United States was abandoning efforts for an Israeli settlement freeze, many surely did not know whether to laugh or cry. The first two years of U.S.-Israeli relations under the Obama administration has been a debacle. For the next two, what is learned from that failure, and how it’s applied, will be of utmost importance.

WikiLeaks and the press

by Paul J. Balles December 26, 2010

They ought to be after Assange for giving governments reasons for censorship – just the opposite effect of the transparency he presumably wanted to promote.
But readers of the two leading US newspapers never learned key facts about the document. According to Porter, WikiLeaks revealed how the press has been complicit in cover-ups by the government.

That alone should justify WikiLeaks’ efforts to expose cover-ups and promote transparency – even in the press.
